Hello, everyone - After a wonderful time with the Duck Show from the Champlain Bridge, I drove across to NY and set up my scope at Crown Point to get a closer look at a flock that were too far to see well from the VT side. After a while, another woman called out “Lesser Black-backed Gull!” There were a few Greater Black-backed Gulls on the ice and one standing apart from them that was shorter. That bird lifted off seconds after I got my scope on it, showing yellow legs. The other woman had also seen yellow legs. The bird took off heading at an angle toward the bridge. Some confusion followed, with the other people standing with us thinking we were talking about one of the dark-backed gulls still on the ice - but I’m confident that the bird that took off definitely had yellow legs. I had to head home, but I’m hoping someone finds it on the Vermont side!
