Subject: [VTBIRD] Weekend birds: Gray Catbird, Short-eared Owls, Fox Sparrow, etc
Some fun birds this weekend included a Gray Catbird feeding in a patch of
wild rose on Snake Mountain Rd. in Cornwall, a Fox Sparrow visiting a
feeder on Market Rd. in Bridport, and at least 3 Short-eared Owls on Gage
Rd. that came out pretty early on Friday evening. They were out early
enough for photos and early enough to compete with the Northern Harriers
for the meadow vole prizes. The waterfowl show at the Crown Point bridge
continued yesterday with great species diversity including several Barrow's
Goldeneyes, Redheads, Canvasbacks, all 3 scoters, Northern Pintail,
Long-tailed Ducks, and many others.
