Hi Bob - saw this post, and I was wondering what day you saw the eagles here - I am guessing it was outside the survey period (Dec 30 - Jan 13), but thought I'd check just in case. Thanks!! -Margaret

Subject: [VTBIRD] Eagles on the Batten Kill
Last weekend I participated in the VT eagle survey and did not see any sign of an eagle; in fact I had not seen an eagle along the Batten Kill since early spring. Coming home from a pancake breakfast I spied an Eagle on the ground. I hurried home to pick up my wife and I returned to the spot were I had seen the eagle. I drove to the West Arlington Covered Bridge as I was going to return home via River Road. Halfway home my wife spied an Eagle in a tree. I almost immediately spotted a second one further away - closer to VT Rte 313. The trees that the eagle were in were part of a tree line bordering a field. They were both large adult birds the one furthest away appearing to be larger. Pictures will be posted later.
The weather is overcast with the temperature around freezing. There is not any snow on the ground.
Cheers,
Bob in West Arlington.
