That is very interesting about the injured foot....for the past 2 (or more)
winters, there has been a Painted Bunting in Connecticut. According to Dave
Alpeter, there was a distinguishing oddity about one of its feet as well. I
wonder if this is perhaps the same bird?

and then again behind the post office/gas station along the hedgerow and
visiting the feeders.
Good luck to those who try for it! The bird appeared to have an injured
foot, but hopefully it manages to survive!
