Here is a reminder that the Rusty Blackbird Spring Migration Blitz count period for Vermont begins tomorrow, March 15 and continues through May 1. To participate simply visit likely Rusty Blackbird stopover points, look for Rusties and count them if you find them, and enter your counts into VT eBird. It would be helpful, though not required, if you would use the Rusty Blackbird Blitz protocol when you enter your data. When you access the Date and Effort page in VT eBird select Other from the Observation Type options, then choose Rusty Blackbird Spring Migration Blitz.
Last year migrating Rusty Blackbirds did not appear in Vermont until the first week in April. This year there have been several reports of Rusties appearing in Vermont already in Grand Isle, Pine Island in Colchester, and at the Little Otter Creek WMA in Ferrisburgh. Let''s get out there and find those birds. Every Rusty Blackbird counts.
Thanks in advance.
