For all of you not familiar with Kent Pond on Route 100 in Killington, it
has a VT Fish and Wildlife boat access. Also many trails connected with
Guilford State Park across the road from the pond. The Loon Island is
directly in front of the boat access and highly visible. It is a small, 8
ft wide by 30 ft long bump of land. Even with the effort of posting nest
warning signs boaters still come right up to the nest but the pair have
dutifully selected this site the last half dozen years.
