During an afternoon walk at Shaftsbury State Park after work today.
As I stood and scanned the trees, I heard and saw 3 Baltimore Orioles chasing each other. One landed in a tree near me and did
something I have never seen before.
This bird, a male, put on a display that rivaled that of a bird of paradise:
He stuck up his tail feathers, so the orange was brilliant , then he stuck his wings out like a swimmer bringing his arms up and back in the butterfly
stroke so they showed all the feathers out, and he Danced! Kinda like that blue bird of paradise…. he took a few bouncy, jaunty steps, it lasted
only about 5 seconds and then off he flew. He did not sing while he jigged.
I was speechless….. wow….. did I just see that?
Has anyone seen this before?
