Hello Vermont Birders:
Ali Wagner and I enjoyed a gorgeous morning in a canoe on Dead Creek. We
put in at Route 17 at sunrise and finished at Panton Road.
As we were preparing to launch, we could hear the thunder-pumping of an
American Bittern and two different Soras were giving their "ker-wee" call.
Black-billed Cuckoo, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Brown Thrasher were
singing along the east shore of Dead Creek.
Species detected in good numbers during our paddle included Wood Duck,
Marsh Wren, Yellow Warbler, Baltimore Oriole, and Warbling Vireo.
We also heard Virginia Rail, Common Gallinule, and Willow Flycatcher.
Our full species list, some audio recordings, and photos from the adventure
are available in this eBird checklist:

Enjoy Spring,
Eric
