Subject: Comic Book Scholar Program

Hello:

My name is Todne Thomas Chipumuro. I’m an Assistant Professor of Religion, a core faculty member of the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Program, and the faculty-in-residence for the Honors College. As part of my work with the HCOL community I sponsor a weekly program called Crafty Comics that sponsors student conversations around comics, gender, race, sexuality, and visual media. I know that the CRES program is in the midst of planning to bring comic books scholar Dr. Stanford Carpenter to campus for a keynote and class discussions on race, representation, and Black Lives Matter activism. I am writing to see if we could receive funding to support his visit and to facilitate his engagement with students in the HCOL community.

I’m happy to answer any questions you might have and to receive any assistance (by way of funding or information) you might be able to offer.

Thank you.

Best,
Todne
