With ice fishermen waiting in the wings, so to speak, there is still a good number of waterfowl on Lake Bomoseen, now about 50 percent frozen.
Highlights were a Common Loon, a Horned Grebe and a Red-necked Grebe in the open water just north of the frozen channel at the south end of the lake.
Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Hooded Merganser and a handful of Bufflehead are still present.
Three Bald Eagles, one adult and two immatures, were on the ice.
