Midday today 425 or so Common Mergansers passed overhead above the 
frozen Lemon Fair River in Weybridge in a loose assemblage of small V's 
and strings .... low and south-bound.

Twenty minutes later they returned going north, as if just out for a 
stroll and now on their way back to open waters of Lake Champlain.
