Thanks to everyone who IDed the mystery feathers at Woodside (where they’ve been for several months; we saw them first in early March, and Shirley saw them back in January). A Helmeted Guinea Fowl it is - or was. We’d tried the feather atlas for help and woodpeckers were the closest possibility - but there are an awful lot of feathers for even a good-sized woodpecker!
