Two Winter Wrens skipped up the wood-strewn hillside east of the Trail
Around Middlebury about 1/3 mile north of route 23 as John Chamberlain and I
took our dog for a walk yesterday (Sunday.) One wren darted under a large
log and the other flew into a tangle of downed branches. They scampered up
the hill from there - so small, so quick and so secretive. Just up the
trail from there we began flushing at least 15 DE Juncos. It was a glorious
day to be out.
