I watched a very handsome Fox Sparrow through my kitchen window Tuesday afternoon, busily turning over the carpet of black oil seeds under the feeders. Glad I caught it because this is the only time of year it visits us. DE Juncos came and went to help out with the clean up. The suet feeder is down (courtesy of the squirrels) for the year, but the woodpeckers are finding leftovers in the dirt under where it hung. Barred Owl "cooking" down in the swamp. Two turkeys RAN through the south meadow, crossed the road without looking, and vanished into the woods. Heard geese through my open skylight last night. Shelagh Smith near Fern Lake.
