Yesterday I posted that I saw a Cooper's Hawk lunching on a Northern Flicker. I was mistaken. Last night I was able to look at the photo that I took and it is clear that the raptor was a Peregrine. They look nothing alike! My excuse is poor....I just assumed that that was a Cooper's Hawk because that is usually what I see eating birds in our meadow and near our bird feeders. The photo isn't great but the slate grey color and head is a dead giveaway. Had I only had my binoculars with me. Nice yard bird!
