I arrived at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington this morning at about 9:15 AM, in search of Fox Sparrows and early arriving warblers. I ran into Fran Delwiche who was watching a pair of accipiters visiting a nest in a tall pine. We watched these birds for about 45 min, getting great looks at both the male and female and listening to many of their vocalizations. We concluded that they are Cooper's Hawks.
Nearby in the park I found 3 Fox Sparrows, 2 Pine Warblers, 8 Golden-crowned Kinglets, and 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet, among many other common species.
