Between 1-6 pm today we saw 6 snowy owls in Addison, Bridport and Shoreham.
The first on a pole on Rt 125 just before Goose Bay Dr.
The second first viewed from Gage Road, it flew into a tree on the south
side of 17 just east of the viewing area.
The third on a pole on Rattlin Bridge Road, a bit west of where Dead Creek
goes through there.
The fourth (very white!) on a bird house on the side of a field on the east
side of Frosty Road.
The fifth in a dead tree south of Middle Road and West of Basin Harbor
The sixth on a silo on Crown Point Road across from Short St.
Given our route and time out looking we potentially could have counted the
same bird twice, but I's say there were almost definitely 4 distinct
snowys, probably 5, and possibly 6.
Also in the day we saw 12 rough legged hawks, 6 red tail hawks, a couple of
too-far-off-to-identify-but-probably hawks and one bald eagle.
