At this very moment there is a Peregrine Falcon perched on the steeple of the Unitarian Church at the north end of Church St., in downtown Burlington. It is reverently plucking the feathers off of a pigeon that it just killed. I watched it flying, carrying the pigeon, and land on the steeple. I did not see the kill. Feathers are drifting and twirling gently downwards in the calm November air. A fitting tribute to the dearly departed pigeon, and to the food chain.
