I’ve been living in either Pownal or North Pownal since 2002 and one of my great sadnesses has been the dearth of Red-breasted Nuthatches and Hermit Thrushes. This morning I was having coffee by the kitchen window and caught sight, I thought, of the coveted Nuthatch. I was hesitant to report it to ebird until I saw it again. Sure enough, that fine little fellow or gal showed up at the suet feeder and hung around for several minutes. I’m pretty chuffed! Now, if only a Hermit Thrush would decide to nest here next spring
