If anyone was missing their American Crows this past weekend it was because
they were all in Weybridge along the Lemon Fair valley. 2,000+ and another
group of 700+. We came upon the 2,000+ along Snake Mountain Road and parked
so as to begin counting for our CBC. We carefully counted 300 then
extrapolated as best we could. The challenge was estimating the numbers
moving through large stands of cedars as well as counting birds in the
fields and bare trees. Another CBC team recorded over 700 on the north side
of Weybridge. This must have been the Middlebury flock, especially as we
saw them flying high over the trees and out of the valley toward Middlebury
around 3 p.m.
This morning there are several hundred in the field next to our house on
Weybridge Road, again near the Lemon Fair.
