We can blame it on the climate. Went on my first bird walk here in Ohio and we had a yellow warbler along with white throated sparrows. Before we left Vermont I had plenty of Titmice and chickadees; especially on the colder days. I don't know where the Junoes have gone to, only one or two observed daily. None here in Ohio. Strange weather al around.
Cheers,
Bob

Subject: [VTBIRD] Where have my birds gone?
Happy New Year and a great year of birding to all.
I do not do a good job of recording and submitting daily counts at my home
feeders (Aha...a great resolution possibility!). But I realize that my
daily visitors are WAY down. Chickadees, downy, and hairy woodpeckers
still visit as well as an occasional nuthatch. But where are the titmice,
the cardinals, juncoes, blue jays and mourning doves? While I worried
about being eaten out of house and home a few weeks ago, I am now emptying
unused feed to wash my feeders.
Have others seen the same disappearance? Will the birds return when the
snow does?
Thanks for responses and offline is fine if this is not of interest to all.
