I've also noticed the number of birds at my feeders have been way down in
the past several weeks since the snow has largely melted. My theory is
that with less snow the birds are able to find plenty of food elsewhere,
and with generally warmer weather, compared with late November and early
December, they're less desperate to pile on the calories daily. I hope
(and expect) your birds will come back when we get some colder weather and
have a foot of snow on the ground!
