We've been seeing eagles on the Beaver Meadow swamp, aka Pelkey or Strong
Swamp, from our house in Benson.
1/6 11:30-11:40 a.m. 1 mature eagle, 1 immature eagle on ice
1/8 11:30 for about an hour 1 mature eagle on ice
1/9 10:30 for most of day 1 mature eagle on ice
1/10 1 p.m. 2 mature eagles on ice, one was there until after 4 p.m.
1/11 10 a.m. 2 mature eagles on ice, one was there until about 5:20 p.m.
1/12 noon - 1 mature eagle in tree, flew when Bob went outside - we did not
see any on ice.
That was the last one we saw.
Also, we were interviewed by Meg Harrington from UMass for the woodlands and
warblers project. She sent us a check for $50 which we would like to
contribute to the project. May I send it to you?

Subject: [VTBIRD] Need some eagle eyes for Mid-winter Bald Eagle survey
Hi VT Birders -
Audubon Vermont is coordinating the annual mid-winter Bald Eagle survey in
early 2019. The survey period runs from Wed Jan 2 - Wed Jan 16, 2019. We
have a target date of Sat, Jan 12, when we hope most volunteers will cover
assigned routes so as to minimize double counting.
Right now we are looking for a person/people to cover the standard route on
the Battenkill River, and we are also looking for people to report sightings
throughout the state during the survey period. These sightings should have
the following info: date, time, age of eagle (adult or immature), and
location. You can email the info to me directly.
If you are interested in being part of the official survey, please send an
email to me directly, and I will pass along more details. Thanks for the
