I have made an “oriole feeder” out of a rectangle of wood with two long nails driven up from the bottom with two eye-screws on the sides with wire through them to hang on a tree branch.  I have two of these and every day I have to slice two oranges in half and jab the halves on there - the catbirds and orioles decimate them in no time.
