The institution in question is based in Sint Maarten, in the Caribbean and is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which is why I raised this.

Bette responded to me privately saying that she was of the view that US federal copyright laws would apply, due to the location (in the US) of the administrative offices. I had suggested that she might want to clarify that to the list.

We have Federal copyright laws that effect most of our print materials usage issues in the U.S.

Sorry for another copyright question....  my faculty member wants to use 38 pages of a 376 page book in her class.    My gut feeling is no because it would not be considered a "small amount" of the copyrighted work.  I would appreciate the opinion of my colleagues who know more about this than I do.
