Between the years of 2016-2018, I was tasked with determining the worth of
the library collection of three elementary school libraries. Each one
wanted to have a butterfly garden but the collections needed to be assessed
to see if they had the library materials (basically, books) needed to guide
the students (3rd graders to 6th graders) to create science fair projects
based on the Monarch caterpillars that would hatch in their
gardens. Through my bibliometric assessments, I was able to obtain books
covering the subject, grade level, and the type of environment in which the
Monarch caterpillars lived (The Washington Post,
https://tinyurl.com/yx348k7b ).

Now, I am trying to find out if there has been a mixed- method study on
developing a library collection by using quantitative methods (e.g.,
hypothesis testing, surveying) and using qualitative methods (e.g., coding)
to establish grade, reading fluency, word recognition, and reading
comprehension levels for a particular environment.

This would allow me to justify obtaining the books selected through this
method for this study.
