When I was doing my first CBC, an experienced birder gave me what has been a
useful tip.  When hiking in the woods, don't try to count the chickadees
flitting around above you.  Instead, stand still and just count them as they
come in.  Most will be coming from the same direction more or less and then
all will move on along their feeding route.  This helps a little.  As for
feeders, oh well!  Happy 2021 birding everyone!
