Get in on the ground floor of a new medical school!
Duquesne University is seeking applications for a Medical Librarian to support our new College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). The position will start July 1, 2023, and the first class of medical students is expected to enroll in August 2024.
The Medical Librarian will provide research support, information literacy instruction, collection development, and outreach for the COM. The successful candidate will collaborate with library and university partners to develop and support innovative library programs and services, joining a team of library professionals engaged in educating students in the health sciences.
Candidates meeting the criteria for the Associate Librarian rank are preferred but candidates at the Assistant Librarian level will be considered (depending on qualifications). This full-time non-tenured library faculty position reports directly to the Gumberg Library Head of Research Engagement & Health Sciences/STEM Initiatives and indirectly (dotted line) to the COM Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Major Responsibilities:

  *   Serve as the primary liaison to the COM.
  *   Create and deliver in-person and online training materials and library instruction and education modules for COM students and personnel.
  *   Provide advanced support for comprehensive literature searching including evidence synthesis reviews and bibliometric analysis/research impact.
  *   Collaborate with COM and Gumberg Library faculty and administration in collection development.
