500 bed hospital in MI obtains information about language (other than English)
proficiency on the employment application for every employee and this info
is retained by the Human Resources department.  In the even that patients
were unable to communicate any employee with knowlege of the language was
called to the bedside to assist - success stories include members of
housekeeping and engineering department were a credit to the hospital
and to the entire body of employees.
