POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
 
TITLE: Educational Services Coordinator - University of Virginia
 
The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library is seeking an enthusiastic
and energetic individual to coordinate educational programs at the
University of Virginia.
 
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs courses, plans class and instructor
schedules, coordinates tours and orientations, and designs publicity
materials. Develops support material and documentation for new and
existing reference tools and online systems, identifies educational
priorities for the program, develops strategies to achieve educational
goals, identifies target audiences, and provides quality assurance for
program offerings. Provides reference services, online searching, class
instruction, and consultation services for library-supported software
programs and systems.
 
REQUIRED:  ALA-accredited MLS; one-year's experience in a health
sciences setting, providing information and instructional services
in an automated environment.  Public service and reference desk
experience.  Demonstrated experience and training in online systems
and software applicable to the health sciences environment. Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to manage multiple
priorities in a changing environment.  Commitment to service and
teamwork.  Knowledge in the application of computerized systems to
health sciences information management.
 
PREFERRED:  Membership in the Medical Library Association Academy of
Health Information Professionals.  Knowledge of instructional techniques
for the adult learner and experience in developing instructional and
informational programs in the health sciences community.
 
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary minimum $30,000.  Benefits include general
faculty rank (non tenure track), 22 vacation days per year, 11 paid
holidays, sick and disability leave, health and dental insurance,
retirement contribution to TIAA/CREF, as well as generous moving,
travel, and staff development budgets.
