Bob:

I suspect that if you are doing wet pyrolysis of clay and carbonate bearing
shales, you are generating CO2 by clay-carbonate reactions.  Potentially
the volumes of CO2 generated by such reactions can be far greater than the
total C available in organic matter, particularly at 2%TOC.  What is the
TIC?
