Dear Student Aid Supporters:

The Alliance to Save Student Aid has announced that its 800 number will
be free beginning Tuesday, September 5 (perhaps earlier depending upon
set up).

Dial 1-800-574-4AID and, after a short message, enter your zip code.  You
will be connected to your Representative.

The last time the 800 number was free (instead of requiring a
Visa/MasterCard and a $3.85 charge), student aid supporters were able to
generate (and track) 10,000 calls to Congress in one 30-day period.
Another 2,000+ faxes were delivered.

Please pass the word on your campuses about this important service.  This
is a chance not only for students to reach their member of Congress, but
to reach the CORRECT member of Congress - the person that represents them.

* 	Set up Phone Banks!
*	Ask your campus paper to print the number
*	Buy an ad in your campus paper, if necessary
*	Ask your parents to use the number to contact their member of Congress

It is important that Congress understands the massive support for student
aid in our country - not only on our campuses but in each and every home.

Will you do your part and help publicize the 800 number to your friends?

P.S.  The free 800 number is made possible because of contributions from
some of the stronger higher education associations in Washington, DC (I
won't name them because I'll miss someone).  Importantly, the nation's
student organizations ARE NOT CONTRIBUTING FUNDS to this 800 number.
This means that our limited funds can be used for other uses.  A big
thanks goes to those helping students reach Congress!
