On Wednesday, October 25, 1995, the Center for Research on Vermont
will sponsor a discussion on "Motor Voter in Vermont: Must We Make
Amends?" The event will take place in Memorial Lounge on the main
floor of the Waterman Building at UVM at 7:30 P.M.
The discussion will be moderated by Vermont Secretary of State Jim
Milne, with commentary by State Senator William Doyle (R-Washington
The event's sponsors encourage the audience to address the question:
How should the Vermont Constitution be amended in order to facilitate
Vermont's compliance with the National Voter Registration Act
(popularly known as "Motor Voter")?
The audience's task will be to discuss and help devise a response to
the Motor Voter requirements, either by refusing to propose an
amendment, or by drafting language for amending section 42, chapter
II (the Voter's Oath).
For more information about the issue, please see the listing for the
seminar under _Center for Research on Vermont_ located in _Vermont
