Do we have a student center? What do we have at UVM? I hang out in
Billings a lot, and there is literature to support the claim that it is
the Campus Center...There's the CC Theater, but even then I'm not sure if
that is Cook Commons Theater or Campus Center Theater or Carbon Copy
I find it peculiar that it gets so quiet in Billings, the Student
Center. Other campuses have more socially active centers. I don't know,
but the building does have "The Billings Library" carved above the door.
It must be terribly confusing to be as quiet as a library, but not have
books. Funny how so many folks use the Bailey-Howe library to hang out
and catch up with each other, and use the Student Center to study. I
guess I just haven't seen "Bailey Howe Social Hang Out Place" carved into
the bricks over there.
Sure, sure, people study there too. And people hang out at
Billings like me. There's been this idea out there about a "real"
Student Center at UVM. What would that be? What does it mean?
Does anyone else out there wonder of these things? I've been
thinking about this Student Center, about what students want and need on
campus. Would anyone like to talk to me about what a Student Center is
all about? I'm ready...
