We purchased a stick pen with a wire coming out of the top which
connects to the base the pen sits in. The base is stuck by adhesive
to our front counter.
I'm told it cost far too much money. You may be able to find economical
versions of these -- or make your own with a little ingenuity and double
sided carpet tape, string etc.
Our little trays for 3X5 scrap note paper are also secured to their
surfaces with double-sided tape.
Would you believe when we were investigating this problem, I developed
a pen which triggered our tattle-tape alarm? I bought some inexpensive
reed tubes from a hobby shop, slipped in a tattle-tape, and a pen
refill. It worked but I guess it was too revolutionary because we ended
paying for the pen with the wire.
