CJCLS AND EJCLS PLAN JOINT PROGRAM FOR ALA NEW YORK
 
The Community and Junior College Libraries Section (CJCLS) and the
Extended Campus Library Services Section (ECLSS) of ACRL are
planning a joint program for the ALA New York Conference.
 
No matter how wired campuses become, colleges and universities are
still people dependent and need visionary leaders.  "Leadership on
the Cybercampus Commons: Where are We in the Vision?" is our
conference program scheduled for Saturday, July 6 from 9:30-
11:00am.
 
A panel of senior academic leaders will discuss strategies they are
using to enlarge the reach of the campus and enhance learning by
the use of telecommunications and computer technologies.  In doing
so, they are creating a "cybercampus commons," where teaching and
learning are not necessarily constrained by time, locale, or access
to information resources.  They will define and discuss their own
institution's or system's perspective and address the question
uppermost in the minds of library professionals, "Where do WE fit
into their visions?"
 
Nancy Allen, Dean and Director, Penrose Library, University of
Denver will moderate the program.  Joining her as panelists are
James V. Koch, President, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA;
James Hall, SUNY Empire State College, Saratoga Springs, NY; Gil
Gonzales, Dean of Information Technology Services, Mesa Community
College, Phoenix, AZ; and Richard Skinlner, President, Clayton
State College, Morrow, GA.
 
This program is one of nine selected by ACRL to support ACRL
President Patricia Senn Breivik's 1996 President's Conference
Program theme, "Every Librarian a Leader."  The program has
