When using volume flows, I think that is is important to draw a distinction
between being able to accurately measure absolute flow  and being able
reproducibly obtain a flow value, even if somewhat inaccurate in absolute
terms. It is the reproducibility that will allow you to see an interval change
in volume flow which, I think, is what we are really looking for most of the
time.
