Senators,

	As many of you may have heard that on friday the search for our 
new president was extended.  On thursday the search committee forwarded 
two names to the Board of Trustees. The two candidates were Dr. Ramaley 
and Dr. Chater. On Thursday night Ms. Chater pulled out of the search. 
On Friday the Board decided that one candidate was not good enough,  they 
wanted to be able to make a "Choice". Judith Ramaley has said that she 
will remain a candidate for as long as she can.  The search committee 
will now resume their search and we're looking at March 1st for a 
deadline.  That is a long time to keep Judith Ramaley dangling in the 
wind.  Judith Ramaley is the clear favorite of most of our campus, she is 
in my opinion the best candidate we could ask for.  I feel that the Board 
of Trustees could be sacrificing the future of this institution so that 
they can retain ownership over the position.  While I feel that the 
process is important and it would be nice to make a "choice", there comes 
a time when the welfare of this school becomes more important.
	I realize that this is a busy time for you, but I wanted you to 
know what was going on, and to tell you to come back form break ready to 
jump on this issue.  The faculty and staff are working hard on this 
issue, it is up to us to put in the work for the students. Once again the 
leadership of this school is weak, and it is up to us to step in.
