Here's news from Tim Raymond about UVM's news server being down for
upgrades on Thurs. 1/9/97. The news server is what gives us the newsgroups
we read, including local ones like uvm.today and external ones like
soc.history.moderated. These newsgroups won't be available while Tim's
doing the upgrade. Note that this does not affect delivery of messages to
email lists (like this one, [log in to unmask]).

Subject: upgrade of news server
I am planning on upgrading the OS on the news server Thurs. 1/9/97
starting at 9 am. It will take all day. I expect the news server will
be available again at 4:30 pm that day.
I will notify EMBA people and post an article to uvm.today and uvm.general.
I would appreciate it if someone from the helpline could notify people at
CIT and any users you may see fit to notify.
