Guided Coach Tour:
The History and Architecture of Western Rutland County
You are invited to travel through time and history, and enjoy the
fall foliage colors, on a coach tour exploring the wealth of western
Rutland County's historic architecture on Sunday, October 12, from
12:45 to approximately 5:00 p.m. The tour will be led by Curtis
Johnson and Elsa Gilbertson, editors of the Vermont Division for
Historic Preservation's book, The Historic Architecture of Rutland
County. Johnson is also the writer of the "Vermont Architectural
Patternbook" column in the Saturday Home section of the Rutland
The tour is sponsored by the Chimney Point and Hubbardton Battlefield
State Historic Sites and the Castleton Historical Society, with
additional support from a local foundation.
The tour will leave from Castleton Village. The fee of $15 per
person includes the tour, copy of the Division's guidebook, Guide to
Vermont Architecture, and light refreshments. There will be several
short stops at historic points en route. The coach is rest room
