Texas Tech University/Geologist
The Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University invites applications
for a tenure-track assistant professorship in either geomorphology or
low-temperature geochemistry. Expertise and interest in geographic
information systems and/or environmental geology are sought. The sucessful
applicant is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
his/her speciality, supervise MS and PhD students, and develop an active
research program. The applicant should hold a PhD at the time of
appointment. The position will be filled by 15 August 1998.
Texas Tech University has 25,000 students and is located in the southern
High Plains of Texas on the northern edge of the Permian Basin. The
Department of Geosciences has 14 faculty members plus 60 undergraduate and
59 graduate students. The Department houses a variety of analytical
equipment, including a stable isotope laboratory, SEM/TEM, ICP-AES, XRD,
and several computer laboratories. There are strong possibilites for the
person selected to colloborate with existing interdisciplinary and
