If the relative is interested in clinical trials, I advise calling the
National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Services in the U.S. at
1-800-4-CANCER.  They will give you the toll-free number for Canadians.  In
addition, the Canadian Cancer society has a toll-free number for Canadians,
and a web site, sources of information:

One unusual form of treatment I wouldn't overlook is hyperbaric oxygen
therapy, BTW.  In addition, as you may know, there's tons of info. on the
Internet to enlighten patients suffering from cancer; also, listservs where
patients can compare notes and perhaps learn about more effective
treatments.  Could try:

for Oncology Online.  In addition to offering a vast array of info and
leads, there are several expert moderated forums organized around specific
cancer types.  Each offers a chance to pose questions or review answers to
those posed by others.  Hope this patient finds cause for hope!
