Position: Information Specialist

Community of Science, Inc., a Baltimore-based World Wide Web publishing
company, has an immediate opening for a web-savvy Information Specialist
to join our team. COS offers a challenging work environment with
opportunity for professional growth.

This individual may be asked to assist in the following areas:

* customer relations (e-mail and phone Help Desk)
* documentation (writing and editing online "Help")
* indexing of in-house databases
* product development and testing of new databases

Community of Science, Inc., founded by the Johns Hopkins University,
provides scientific information to more than 200 leading international
research institutions and individual researchers via the World Wide Web.
COS publishes large bibliographic databases and full-text journals on the
Web.

The ideal candidate will have an MLS with knowledge of Boolean operators,
the Internet and the Web, and indexing systems that include controlled
vocabulary. A familiarity with HTML and UNIX is preferred.  Evening hours
(10:00am-7:00pm) on a rotating schedule.

This is a full-time position, although current MLS students are encouraged
to apply as part-time candidates.  The salary range for the full-time
position is $30,000 - $45,000 depending on experience, plus benefits.
