I've had it with this class. I haven't learned a single thing this entire
semester. There is something about the way this class is conducted that
simply isn't working (at least for me). These homework questions are
helping me learn the information in the book about as much as not reading
anything at all would help. The quizes wouldn't be so bad if we actually
learned about the concepts and information while we were in class or if we
did something relevant to them with our homework. Instead, we spend
entire class periods going over homework that doesn't make any sense to
begin with.
This is not to say that the information in the book is irrelevant
or not interesting, because it is. It is simply that the way it is being
relayed to us is irrelevant and not interesting. These homework questions
make about as much sense to me as a Russian novel, it's complete jibberish
in my eyes.
I think these projects we've been working on are no doubt
interesting and help us a great deal in learning about these particular
topics, but what do they have to do with anything we've been learning (or
not learning) in class?
As far as homeworks are concerned, I think it would be much better
for us (or maybe just for me) to answer the questions that are provided at
the end of each chapter. They seem much more relevant to the information
provided in the chapter. I say leave these mind boggling made-up
questions for some 300 level class working on a post-doctorite degree on
this stuff.
The internet is always screwed up, nobody ever knows what's due
when or what's going to be on the quiz. These group questions we've been
working on aren't a bad idea for helping us learn the content of the
chapters, but it seems like every week something's going wrong with
getting the results on the internet in time for us to study. I thought
one of the worst ways to study for an exam, at least according to some
instructors, is to cram, and that seems like all we ever have time for
because these group questions are always screwed up.
I know that it's pretty late in the semester and I don't expect
anything to change, but I just wanted to see if anyone has similar feeling
to share about all this.
