The opportunities for input do not end with
the hiring of a CLIO. They just begin.
This person will report to the Provost.
If you have advice for him about the skills necessary
for someone to be successful in this position,
publish them (here for instance),
or send him a note directly. I can guarantee
he will listen.

Once a person is selected, get on their calendar, either
individually or as a group. Make solid recommendations.
Not only what is wrong, but how things should be.
The genesis for this position was the Plan-IT
effort that Ray Lavigne started before his
retirement. Many many people had input into that process.
I agree that the CLIO will have to have the confidence of
the community to succeed. I hope people will base that confidence
on the attributes the person brings to the job, and
their performance on the job. Clearly they will need our help.
Thank you for caring enough to be upset. I hope
we can turn our energy toward improving the work we
do.
