Hello there....I could use some of your input!!!

I recently saw a 63 yr. old pt to assess her access graft which was
approx. 1 yr. old. The vascular surgeon suspected a venous outflow
obstruction. The velocities in her synthetic loop thigh graft were
between 235 cm/sec and 311 cm/sec. Both anastomoses were in the 500+
range w/ CFV flow of 279 cm/sec. Her CFA flow proximal to the
anastomosis was 333 cm/sec.

We do not perform flow volume measurements. Does anyone out there have
protocol for determining percent stenosis based on velocities alone??
If so, what literature can you lead me to??

I know that many times that graft ends are tapered....could that be the
reason for the increase in velocity?? I saw no evidence of
disease....could really use your input........thank you, Pat Powers, RVT
