What was the interval between scan and phlebogram? Why was a
filter inserted? The reason for a positive scan and negative
phlebogram may well be that the iliac thrombus might have
embolized and was therefore not present at the time of phlebography.
I have seen this before.
An alternative explanation is that if the phlebogram was done with a
foot injection, the contrast might have been too dilute to adequately
outline the iliac thrombus.

for a vein contrast study is "phlebogram," not "venogram." Reason?
Phlebogram is derived from Greek based root words, i.e., Gr. phlebos,
vein + Gr. gramma, something written, whereas venogram has both
Latin and Greek origins, L. vena, vein + Gr. gramma, something
