UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR PUBLIC
SERVICES

The McGoogan Library of Medicine invites applications for its Associate
Director for Public Services position.  The associate director has broad
management responsibilities for public services and supervises the
activities of reference, interlibrary loan, circulation, education, the
learning resource center, Sievers Facility for Interactive Instruction,
the Consumer Health Information Resource Service(CHIRS), and a technician
at the Omaha VA Medical Center. Public Services staff  total 22.60 FTE.

This position coordinates public services policies and
procedures with the library's technical services division and the
libraries of the other University of  Nebraska campuses and also interacts
with the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Midcontinental Region
(NNLM- MR), in respect to regional public services issues.  The person in
this position plays a key role in long- and short- range planning for the
library and is responsible for developing, implementing, and marketing
library services.  Candidates must show evidence of strong administrative
skills, oral and written communication, motivating and organizing staff,
thorough understanding of electronic information services and resources,
and demonstrated experience with public services operations.

Qualifications include an ALA-accredited MLS and a minimum of 5 years'
experience in increasingly responsible positions.  Previous supervisory
experience is required. This position is an academic appointment leading
to tenure, with appropriate rank, privileges, and fringe benefits.
Minimum salary: $48,500.
