My hospital is in the process of developing a policy on infant
identification using footprinters. We are aware that there are disposable
footprinters such as those manufactured by Precision Dynamics Corporation,
however the cost is an issue. Does anyone know of similar products which
use reusable ink pads? What is the risk of cross infection with such
products? We would assume that such risk is minimal as long as the skin of
the infant's foot is intact and clean.

We would appreciate any help with this query as the literature searches were
fruitless and there were no responses when the question was posted to the
infection control listserv. Thank you in advance.
