The University of Vermont presents a two-day conference
entitled "Emergency & Disaster Relief: Using Performance
Measures to Achieve Better Outcomes" on April 15 - 16, 1999
at the Charlotte Hyatt at SouthPark, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Featured speakers include Michael J. Armstrong, Associate Director
for Mitigation, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),
Harvey G. Ryland, President and CEO, Institute for Business and
Home Safety, and Lacy Suiter, Executive Associate Director,
Response and Recovery Directorate, FEMA.
Conference sessions feature nationally respected directors of
public works, emergency managers, city managers, engineers, and
regional emergency management leaders who focus on outcomes to
prepare for disasters in their communities. Topics include
"Assessing Emergency Management Capabilities," "Business and
Community Partnerships," and "Y2K Contingencies, Emergency
Management, and Public Works." In addition, a pre-conference
seminar concerning "FBI Strategies for Dealing with a Terrorist
Attack in Your Community" will be held.
